Where to Find Honda Z-1 Transmission Fluid

Hard-to-Find Fluid

When changing the transmission fluid on older Honda/Acura vehicles (all models up to 2011), you’ll discover that Honda/Acura no longer manufactures Type Z-1 transmission fluid. Honda now suggests Type DW-1 as a replacement automatic transmission fluid.

Difference Between Z-1 and DW-1 Transmission Fluid

The new OE DW-1 transmission fluid is thinner in viscosity than the old Z-1. The thinner viscosity of the new DW-1 fluid may contribute to shifting and performance issues. It also may not provide the expected change intervals.

Solution:
Beck/Arnley ATF for Type Z-1

If you like the performance of the Z-1 transmission fluid and don’t want to switch, you may think you’re out of luck. However, you’ll be pleased to learn that Beck/Arnley has you covered with a premium transmission fluid for Type Z-1. Check with Beck for the ATF for Type Z-1 you need for your Honda. Be sure to always check your owner's manual for proper application.
